Gainesville band Hundred Waters is making news again with the announcement of a signing with the label OWSLA, best known as the label started by… Skrillex? Hundred Waters’ addition to the label marks the first indie pop/folk artist on a label known for midnight titans like Skream and Dillon Francis, among others.
Also announced is their first EP with OWSLA, Thistle, due out on August 21st. The announced inclusion of remixes on the EP marks at least one apparent influence of OWSLA’s involvement, with contributions due from a variety high-profile producers including Araabmusik, Tokimonsta and Star Slinger (damn!)
Wondering what this means for Hundred Waters’ direction or their sound in general? The following EP teaser offers an intriguing glimpse of a what’s next.
Regardless of how the EP is received, it’s safe to say that with players like Skrillex and Pitchfork involved, Hundred Waters has “arrived” at a national level. Cheers!
